To escape their troubles and find women, they book a trip on board a cruise-liner, unaware the travel agent has just played a horrid trick on them in retaliation for Nick offending his secret gay lover. Trick question. You said you spent 4/5 time in the car and 1/5 meaning you spent 9.6 hours in the car and 2.4 hours in the boat

5rt/r(12-t)=4/5*d/1/5*d Use of a proportion here.
Now reduce each fraction: 5t/(12-t)=4/1 or 4 so 5t=4(12-t) or 5t=48-4t or 9t=48
t=5 and 1/3 hours 12-t=6 and 2/3 hours. The difference of these times is you answer
